Statement
Jon Thoren
Candidate for Assistant
Recording Secretary
VISION:
The
CPCA is in dire need of a broader membership base that is more
reflective of the citizens of Cleveland Park. During its
recent history, the CPCA has become an insular, obstructionist group
that claims to represent the community while echoing the views of a
handful of entrenched neighborhood activists.
My vision for CPCA is an open, inclusive, and inviting organization
that will advance the goals of the majority of Cleveland Park
residents. Many Cleveland Park residents are busy
with their daily lives and do not have the time or inclination for
lengthy community meetings. Their voices need to be
heard nevertheless. The CPCA should accommodate people like
these by adopting online polling and voting procedures. The
CPCA also needs to communicate to its members as its standard operating
procedure. Above all, I want to part of a club that is open
to new residents and new ideas, with officers that are accessible and
accountable to its members and the greater Cleveland Park community.
